Customer Background

A leading heavy equipment manufacturer in China specializes in R&D and production of core components for tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and mining machinery. Its production workshop requires frequent transport of 10-ton heavy workpieces such as large gearboxes and machine frames. With an annual production capacity of over 200 sets of heavy equipment, the company has strict requirements for the efficiency and safety of in-plant logistics.  
Challenges
  • Space Constraints & Safety Risks: The workshop is densely packed with columns and production equipment. The original forklift + pallet transport method had a large turning radius, leading to 2–3 minor collisions with equipment or personnel each month.
  • Low Efficiency & Production Bottlenecks: Forklifts were slow for long-distance transport, taking ~15 minutes per trip and requiring full-time operators. During peak hours, workstations waited up to 30 minutes for materials, disrupting production flow.
  • Safety & Environmental Concerns: Heavy workpieces often slid on pallets, posing tipping risks during forklift acceleration or braking. Additionally, forklift exhaust emissions degraded workshop air quality.
