The Ladle Transfer Cart is a heavy-duty rail-mounted transfer cart designed to move full ladles between furnaces, preheating stations, casting areas, and other production points.
Available in 30-ton, 50-ton, and 80-ton capacities, the cart is built around the actual ladle dimensions and total loaded weight. A heat-resistant deck, dedicated ladle support, VFD-controlled drive, and low-speed positioning help provide stable transportation of hot ladles in demanding steel mills and foundries.
Ladle Transfer Cart 30T–80T for molten steel and slag handling. Rail-mounted design with heat-resistant deck, ladle support and VFD control. BDG rail power or BXC battery power available.
Perfect can be customized with different load capacities, platform sizes, navigation systems, and functional configurations to meet specific production requirements.
A Ladle Transfer Cart provides a dedicated way to move molten-metal ladles through a fixed production route.
The cart runs on steel rails and carries the complete ladle assembly, including the ladle body, refractory lining, and molten material. Instead of using a general-purpose flatbed transfer cart, the deck can be designed with a dedicated ladle seat, center hole, or clamp system according to the customer's ladle drawing.
Depending on the plant layout, the rail mounted ladle transfer cart can use BDG rail power or BXC battery power.
The deck can incorporate approximately 50 mm-class ceramic fiber insulation beneath the steel plate. The insulation structure helps reduce heat transfer from the hot ladle to the cart frame and drive components.
The steel ladle transfer cart is not simply a flat platform.A center opening, support ring, wedge clamp, or other positioning structure can be designed according to the ladle outside diameter and bottom configuration.
For heavy-duty ladle transport cart applications, two drive units can be used to distribute the driving load.
The drive system can be configured according to the total load, wheel pressure, travel distance, and duty cycle.
Heat shields and insulation can be added around motors, electrical cabinets, cable connections, and other components exposed to radiant heat.
Electrical protection can be designed according to the operating environment, with IP54 or higher protection available where required.
Different power systems can be selected according to the factory layout:
| Model | Load Capacity | Ladle OD | Deck L × W | Rail Gauge | Wheel Ø | Speed |
| Ladle Transfer Cart 30T | 30,000 kg | ≤1800 mm | 4500 × 2200 mm | 1435 mm | Ø400 mm | 0–15 m/min |
| Ladle Transfer Cart 50T | 50,000 kg | ≤2200 mm | 5500 × 2500 mm | 1435 mm | Ø500 mm | 0–15 m/min |
| Ladle Transfer Cart 80T | 80,000 kg | ≤2600 mm | 6500 × 2800 mm | 1435 mm | Ø600 mm | 0–12 m/min |
The correct ladle transfer cart should be selected according to more than the nominal ladle capacity.
The rated capacity should include:
Ladle + refractory lining + molten metal + other carried components
The ladle outside diameter, bottom structure, overall height, and center of gravity affect the cart deck and support design.
A ladle drawing is recommended before manufacturing the support or clamp system.
BDG rail power is suitable for fixed production routes where a dedicated rail power system can be installed.
BXC battery power is an option when the customer wants to avoid external rail power equipment and battery operation fits the duty cycle.
Travel distance, daily operating frequency, load distribution, and required positioning accuracy determine the motor, battery, gearbox, and control system configuration.
Wheel load becomes especially important on 50-ton and 80-ton ladle transfer carts.
The rail type, gauge, wheel diameter, rail foundation, and track condition should therefore be considered together rather than selected separately.
The molten steel transfer cart is mainly used for internal transportation of hot ladles in steel mills, foundries, and metal-processing facilities.
Typical applications include:
For steel plants, the steel ladle transfer cart can be integrated into a fixed production route and customized with positioning devices, automatic control, limit switches, and safety systems.

A Ladle Transfer Cart is a heavy-duty rail-mounted vehicle used to transport molten-metal ladles between different areas of a steel mill or foundry.
It can be designed for capacities such as 30T, 50T, and 80T, with larger capacities available for customized projects.
Yes. The cart is designed for high-temperature ladle transportation. Heat-resistant insulation can be added to the deck, while heat shields and protective structures help protect the drive and electrical components.
The actual configuration should be determined according to ladle temperature, radiant heat, travel distance, and operating cycle.
Yes. The same basic platform can be configured for slag ladles or other hot-metal containers. The support structure should be designed according to the actual container dimensions and load.
BDG is generally suitable for fixed production routes with an appropriate rail power system.
BXC is suitable when battery operation is preferred and the operating cycle allows regular charging.
The final choice depends on travel distance, working frequency, plant layout, and customer requirements.
Yes. As a transfer cart manufacturer, we can customize the cart according to the ladle drawing, load capacity, rail gauge, travel distance, deck dimensions, power supply, and control requirements.
Every steel plant has different ladle dimensions, rail layouts, and operating conditions. The Ladle Transfer Cart can therefore be customized rather than limited to a standard configuration.
