Meta Description:

V-Frame Coil Handling Cart for Steel, Aluminum & Wire Rod

A V-frame deck helps center round coils and reduces rolling and lateral movement during transport. End stops and PU or rubber liners provide additional protection during acceleration, braking, and positioning.

Available in 10T, 20T, 30T, and 50T capacities, the cart can be configured as a rail transfer cart or trackless transfer cart, with battery, cable drum, conductor rail, or rail power according to the factory layout.

Coil transfer cart in 10T, 20T, 30T and 50T capacities. V-frame or saddle deck for steel, aluminum and wire rod coils. Rail or trackless options.

Perfect can be customized with different load capacities, platform sizes, navigation systems, and functional configurations to meet specific production requirements.

Description

Coil Transfer Cart Overview

The coil transfer cart carries round coils on a V-frame or saddle-type deck.

For eye-vertical coils, the V-frame supports the coil from both sides and helps keep it centered during movement. Removable end stops provide additional protection against longitudinal movement.

The V-frame angle is selected according to the coil diameter and width. Typical configurations use 90° to 120° V-angles, with the exact geometry determined during the cart design.

For eye-horizontal coils, a curved saddle deck can be used instead of a V-frame.

The power system is selected according to the travel route and factory layout. Available options include battery power, motorized cable reel, conductor rail, and rail-powered systems.

Parameters

The Deck Does the Heavy Work

V-Frame for Eye-Vertical Coils

The V-frame supports the coil from both sides and helps maintain its position during movement.

The V-angle and support spacing are selected according to the coil diameter and width.

Typical V-angle options range from 90° to 120°.

Saddle Deck for Eye-Horizontal Coils

For coils transported with the eye in the horizontal direction, a curved saddle deck provides a larger supporting surface.

Surface Protection

Rubber or polyurethane liners can be added to the contact areas.

This reduces direct metal contact and helps protect the coil surface during repeated handling.

End Protection

Removable end stops or dedicated retaining structures can be installed to limit longitudinal coil movement during acceleration and braking.

Process

Rail or Trackless? Start With the Route

Choosing a coil transfer cart should start with the travel route, not just the tonnage.

Rail-Mounted Coil Transfer Cart

Best suited for:

  • Fixed production routes
  • Repeated point-to-point movement
  • Steel mill transfer lines
  • Coil warehouses with defined aisles
  • High-frequency transportation

Rails provide a defined travel path and help keep the cart aligned with production equipment.

Trackless Coil Transfer Cart

Best suited for:

  • Shared workshop floors
  • Multiple destinations
  • Flexible material flow
  • Areas where permanent rails are difficult to install

The BWP-type configuration uses onboard power and can be designed for remote-controlled or automated operation.

Notes

Four Ways to Power the Cart

The coil itself does not determine the power system.

The factory route does.

Battery Powered

A battery-powered configuration is suitable when the cart needs flexible movement or when installing power cables along the route is inconvenient.

It is commonly used for trackless applications.

Cable Reel Powered

A motorized cable reel supplies power from an industrial electrical source while automatically winding and unwinding the cable.

This option is suitable for dedicated routes where continuous external power is preferred.

Conductor Rail Powered

A conductor rail provides electrical power along the travel route.

This configuration can be used where the cart follows a defined rail path and a busbar system can be installed beside the track.

Rail Powered

For certain dedicated rail systems, power can be supplied through the running rails.

The final configuration is selected according to route length, workshop conditions, duty cycle, and maintenance requirements.

Build the Cart Around Your Material Flow

The right Coil Transfer Cart is not selected from tonnage alone.

It is designed around the relationship between the coil, deck, route, power system, and production equipment.

Tell us what you need to move and where it needs to go.

    Send us:

Coil Weight + Coil OD + Coil Width + Eye Direction + Travel Distance

We can then prepare a preliminary cart configuration, V-frame or saddle layout, deck dimensions, power-system recommendation, and technical proposal for your application.
